Brand new Gallery. Eric Adam at Jozsa Gallery

The Fake

Last Thursday I found myself by chance at the opening of a new gallery, Jozsa Gallery at 24, Saint-George Street in Brussels. I was walking back from work and it was the images at the front windows of the gallery what captured me and introduced me to this little and welcoming place.

I had the impression of being in a place I had already been in the past, or at least, in a place I had dreamt about. Everything was quite familliar, like the kind of galleries I always liked, or I used to visit. The exhibition was quite nice: clean surfaces, nice drawing and gesture, between Pop Art and contemporary design. A vision of nowdays life through advertisement esthetic, through manipulated images and slogans.

After a while I learnt that the exhibition presented was by Eric Adam, and the exhibition was based on the layout of The Face, a magazine started in May 1980 and often referred to as the "80s fashion bible". This layout provides Eric Adam the perfect frame to insert icons, controversions, models and martyrs of our world today.

I got out of that place thinking I really have to come back.
