Last Thursday I found myself at 18+1 Gallery at Madou. I was invited for the opening of Isabelle Goormachtigh-Gilliot's exhibition, a collection of acrylic and watercolor paintings.
With reference to real imagery, mainly landscapes of Brabant Wallon fields, Isanelle's paintings create their own reality and structure, giving the artist the opportunity to investigate and try different ways of applying and mixing the media. A sensible look to our insides, captured by the basic elements: earth, air, water.
What really got my attention was the space, wide white walls, a big space, and great zenital light. A space with many possibilities and very near from the centre. We will pass by for future exhibitions to corroborate this.
