EXPO HENRY van de VELDE - La Cambre

Cambre-F.Boudet

From 1927 until today, the La Cambre School of Fine Arts has always been a “book laboratory”: typography, print, illustration, book binding and object design … have all been at the heart of artistic practices of this school since its creation.

When Henry van de Velde founded La Cambre, he initiated a publishing project in collaboration with the most prominent authors of the time; he created workshops dedicated to the book and donated a collection of graphic archives to the School, which are unique in the world.

Artists like Herman Teirlinck, Elisabeth Ivanovsky, Dominique Rolin, Fernand Baudin, Lucien de Roeck, Pierre Alechinsky, Michel Olyff, Jo Delahaut, Gabriel Belgeonne, Bernard Villers have carried on this research and numerous young artists and students followed in their footsteps culminating in the introduction of a new subject “around the book” being introduced in the curriculum at La Cambre in 2006.
