After Brussels and Ostend the artist Guido Vrolix presents his intervention serials in Paris with CANTOR from November 22nd to December 1st. In this project he exposes his paintings at Saint-Sauveur chapel in collaboration with young French artist and musician Stéphane Wenderbecq.
In this neoromanic framework, Vrolix dynamites the primitive Flemish painting tradition into Pop Art. He takes from these artists the same materials -wooden board- and the predilection for liturgical scenes, but instead of oils he uses colourful larcquer. He also replaces his predecessors care about details with an evoking and enigmatic play on silhouettes. In a laberynth installation, the spectator gets lost and plays hide and seek with hugh modern icons. This religious sense in Vrolix's work reminds 'the Way of the Cross in daily life'.
In fact, 'cantor' is the person who sings during church services (religious meaning).

The visitor will discover in this scenography the bizarre sounds and rythms of "Stringtime", an experimental project between German cellist Birgit Yew and Stéphane Wenderbecq (guitar).
